YOUTH IN ACTION FESTIVAL

On the 16th and 17th of March 2013 we had the opportunity to enjoy one of the most powerful and joyful events that have been ever seen around Johannesburg. We are talking about the YOUTH IN ACTION FESTIVAL, where 32 youth groups participated with their own shows. On the stage we could see outstanding performances on theatre, poetry, music and dance, all of them included a core theme related to real problems/issues that this youth faces every day in their communities. The audience could be touched by topics such as “ what friends do you go for”, “ get tested (HIV)”, “Say no to alcohol”, “Drop in school, don’t drop out”, “No to sexual abuse”….. Youth from all the clubs of Youth in Action programme took part on this unique event where not even during the breaks the music and the dance stopped.
The Project leaders, Sthembile, Godwin, Sizwe and Eddie, along with Jerry, founder and director of GOMACC, and the popular TV actress Tjovoo where the ones in charge of directing with a lot of energy and freshness the festival.
The whole event was a great success and all the hard work done during several months of disciplined training and sharing was tested on this friendly competition.
As judges said, the high quality and the great level of the artistic shows, put the judges into a very difficult task. All the participants were real winners and demonstrated their talent and professionalism and this seems to be just the start for serious and prosper artistic careers.
Thank you all for sharing that talent with the rest of us!
See you in July’s Festival!!
